Hey, Mal! Thanks for checking on this.

The Lofty Heights gymnasium is a typical gym most of the time. Because most NPC students don't have powers on par with the PC metahumans, the school has not seen a need for the heavy duty equipment seen in the X-Men's Danger Room.

They have are gym mats, ropes for climbing and swinging, jumping horses, etc. Their VR capabilities in the combat department are uninspired. There are a few combat simulations, but they appear to be somewhat out of date and the holograms are not sophisticated enough for interactivity.

However, for the students on the hero track, the school occasionally runs endurance challenges and real time scenarios like Save the Citizen — though they learned their lesson pretty quickly, and the spikes are now holograms. They also invested in "Bubble Suits" for combat training to ensure that the students won't hurt themselves or others while practicing. There's also an aerial obstacle course that can be deployed for fliers, but it's in a state of disrepair as none of the current staff can actually fly... and Fantastic was the last student to use it, which means its in rough shape due to his careless showboating.

Frankly, it seems like the gym is most often used for "Magic School Bus"-esque adventures. In a shocking inverse of how it is in the real world, the kinetic arts are wildly underfunded and the sciences get most of the money - largely due to the fact that most of the donors for the school are from Excelsior, and want to train students to be scientists rather than superheroes.

In short, the climate is ripe for a player plot pulling together some tech brains to improve the offerings. Let us know if you have further questions.
